The author analyzes the consequences of the openness of the Slovak economy and the high share of foreign capital in the labor market. Due to the high level of unemployment over the last 25 years, the labor market has been distorted and, under the concurrent action of globalization, part of the labor force is pushed out of the Slovak labor market itself and, on the other hand, it becomes undermined, which is a sign of the segmentation of the labor market. The author also points to changes in the Labor Code, the decline in traditional work and new flexible forms of work, with the accompanying phenomena being artificially lowering labor costs and spreading fraudulent and undeclared work.
