Abstract:
Europe faces existential crisis. The first priority of any government should be the defence of its citizens, writes Con Coughlin, the Telegraph’s defence editor. As Alvin Toffler once expressed the shock from the state of society and even described creating a new civilization, he did not describe the most important problem that can lead to dramatic change of European identity. The recent surveys show that Christians belong to the most persecuted in the world, even in Europe, systematic anti-Christian politics, aggressive secularism and neoliberalism. Although Europe faces massive illegal migration, the spread of radical ideologies and unprecedented attacks at their own territory, European political establishment still has not been able to make strict steps to protect its borders and increase stability and security in Europe. The real situation is quite opposite. The article discuses ongoing crisis of values in contemporary society, defines the personal and national identity, materialist and post-materialist values and deals with the task if Europe is really committing suicide, as it has been declared by various European authorities.
