Discussion about generations today is bringing a lot of inspiration to interpretation of many contemporary issues. In comparison with other views in social sciences, generation in demography is considered to be a group of people born in a specific time period, usually in a specific year. Moreover, applied generational perspective also has used a concept of cohort, which is perceived as a group of subjects that share a defined characteristic. Additionally, we can find concepts of older and younger generations, generations of parents and children, generations of mothers and fathers, male and female generations or a first and second generation in relation to migration. Demographic view on generations has paid attention primarily to a population number and intensity of demographic events in their lives. They can be viewed through the lenses of birth rates, population pyramids, fertility rates, childlessness or many other demographic indicators and analytical tools.
