Identity is a very popular concept in social sciences. It is very differently defined and understood. The socio-cultural change taking place in the conditions of globalization is of great importance for understanding the concept (of identity). In (post)modernity, identity is undergoing transformations both in relation to its contents and form. The changes concern the course of identity construction process, its composition and importance hierarchy of particular elements. The article will present various views on the identity and its possible types.
